Freede Theatre

Born Yesterday is set in a posh Washington, D.C. hotel room in 1946. The players: Harry Brock, a rags-to-riches scrap metal magnate; Billie Dawn his stunning but simple girlfriend (read: floozy); Ed Devery a has-been lawyer. Scheming to bribe a crooked senator to pass a shady law and make them all filthy rich, Brock hires an idealistic reporter, Paul Verrall, to tutor the dame and turn her into a lady. While the reporter teaches the gal a thing or two about politics, she schools him in matters of the heart. What ensues is great fun -- Born Yesterday celebrates the power of the individual to change the world while taking gleeful swipes at political corruption, romantic affections and the war between the sexes.
